Jamie and I went to the Kohler Earth Day event where we were each given a tree. Normal people would probably have taken the tree home and planted it in their backyard. We took this a step further and decided to have a friendly little family competition. Daddy/Morgan vs. Mommy/Morgan...realistic competition: who's tree is going to survive the longest? Optimistic competition: who's tree grows the biggest? We went to Menards and picked out some big pots for our baby trees, filled them up with fresh dirt and planted our trees with Morgan. We even named our trees, Morgan/Mommy's tree is named Sprucilla (we have a spruce tree) and Morgan/Daddy's tree is named Purple (pine tree). Funny story...Morgan's new favorite color is purple. If you ask her what color something is, chances are she'll tell you purple. And it's so cute how she spits out the word "purple". We get a kick out of showing off her new favorite word by pointing out purple objects for people and asking Morgan what color the object is, then after a few objects we'll ask what color the walls are or something very non-purple and Morgan still spouts off "purple"...it's cute. Since this was our latest little game, Jamie decided to honor his tree with the name Purple. We planted the trees on Saturday, it's Thursday today so five days later both trees are alive. Sprucilla is looking much more voluptuous than Purple, however, I think that's a spruce vs pine issue. I'll update you periodically on our tree status. ;-)
Oh and by the way...dirt tastes icky!!!
